How to increase the number of website visitors? This is a topic that can be believed to occupy the mind of many website owners. Due to the fact that I do not know the methods you are already using to drive visitors, this post is mainly going to be about the general topic of getting visitors to a website. One way for increasing website hits with real visitors, can be done through SEO or Search Engine Optimization. Search Engine Optimization leads to apply certain methods or a set of methods to make a website more appealing to the search engines. In general, more attention is given to rankings in Google where a higher proportion of searches for a particular keywords may be done.

A website ranking on the top of the result page for a keyword that gets a high volume of searches and fits with the theme of the site, may lead to targeted website visitors. the more keywords ranking pages of a website achieve for targeted and considerably searched keyword, the more visitors the site could get.

It is possible to get targeted traffic without trying to optimize for Google. In fact, social media, guest blogging, ebook syndication, forum marketing  are some of the ways that could lead to direct visitors towards a website without having to optimize meta tags for Google for instance. Some methods to have visitors without doing SEO for Google are free while others may require spending money.

It is possible to improve website hits without getting a lot of conversions. In fact, website hits don't necessarily mean targeted website traffic.
